WHO IS CHOEGYAL?

(CHOEGYAL TENZIN)
was born in Tibet in 1971. In 1978, had to leave his homeland with father and two brothers due to Chinese invasion over Tibet. From 1979-1985 he attended Drukpa Kargyud Destitute Home, Darjeeling. He specialized in traditional Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and obtained Lopon (Master of Arts degree) in Buddhist Philosophy from Central University of Tibetan Studies, Sarnath, India in the year 2000. He was unanimously elected president of Students’ Union to look after the students’ welfare.
He was elected the 13th Member of Tibetan Parliament in Exile, Dharamsala from 2001-2006, where he represented the Kagyudpa school of Tibetan Buddhism. Attended World Parliamentarian Convention on Tibet, Edinburgh, Scotland and Rome, Italy in year 2005 and 2009 respectively.
From September 2002 to September 2011, he taught Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy and language at the Dharma Gate Buddhist College which is under the Ministry of Education, Hungary.
At present, he travels different European countries, The United States and Southern Africa to give lectures on Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and cultural heritage of Tibet.
